the MTS Technology:
Based on Super-thermal Treatment method.
Waste is converted into ceramic granules
(TPH = 0%).
Hazardous organic substances like dioxins and furans are degraded and heavy metals are encapsulated into the granules, thus becoming non-leachable.
The end product is reusable and commercially valuable.
The treatment plant itself is movable.
MTS Technology
Our technology fulfils BAT-criteria (“Best Available Technology”) and EU Norms. Technology patent and methods patents are pending. With its large capacity and energy-efficient method, the MTS is able to neutralize considerable quantities of hazardous waste and convert it into reusable material. The MTS is the only solution in the market to achieve this.
Our standard treatment plant MTS DK-50 fits into 7 intermodal shipping containers: two 40’ containers and five 20’ containers. The required size is approximately 25x30 meters, which equals about 750 square meters. The size of the plant is approximately 10x20 meters, depending on the layout. The treatment plant is designed to work without special covering (or building).
The treatment plant can be operational in about 24 hours’ time upon its arrival in the site, and can be quickly taken apart and moved to a new location. The unit carries its own source of electricity, a simple generator that burns about two gallons of diesel per hour. This means that the unit is independent and doesn’t need to be connected to the grid, which again makes it apt for remote areas with no infrastructure.
As to the kilns, the lining is made of special steel mixture, which makes it possible to use high temperatures in the process. The lining is designed specifically to tolerate temperature changes and is easy to maintain. No metal fatigue occurs. The double-kiln structure enables the use of the waste material as the sole source of energy for the process, provided that the waste contains 4 – 6 % oil or other combustible hydrocarbons. If additional process energy is needed we can even use hazardous waste oil.
The new technical solutions developed by us in regard to the kiln are very energy-efficient and the kilns are not sensitive to thermal expansion. The (gas) emissions caused by burning are led through cyclones and scrubbers, and practically no harmful gases, such as SOx, are released to the atmosphere. The emissions that remain are within the EU Regulations.
Tested Method
The method has been tested with authentic material from the North Sea area.
The end product has been tested in two different testing laboratories: the Institute for environmental research at Jyväskylä University and the GTK, the Geological Survey of Finland. Test results were identical and confirmed our end product superiority to that of our competitors’.
Superior End Product
The utmost important thing to pay attention to is the fact that the waste actually becomes purified in our process and with our technology. Unlike any other waste treatment method currently in use, our method has the unique feature of first purifying the waste and simultaneously, during the process, converting the waste into a re-usable, non-leachable, non-toxic end product, where heavy metals are encapsulated inside the end product, (light-weight clay granules), suitable for a multitude of purposes.
Possible end user applications:• Insulation material
• Road foundation construction
• To reduce soil pressure
• Environmental hazard and catastrophe construction & protection material
• Housing construction, foundation and erosion elements
• To prevent the permafrost in arctic conditions
• Foundation and insulation material in semi permanent frost conditions
• Flood wall construction
